IMC Companies Opens New Container Storage Facility in Long Beach
We see the real-life effects of the COVID-19 pandemic which has caused havoc in the supply chain.
At IMC Companies, we needed to think outside of the box to quickly establish a loaded container yard outside the nation’s largest ports to meet our customer’s needs while providing relief to the congested SOCAL port facilities. This led to the opening of a brand new storage facility in August 2020. The new facility covers 10 acres and has the ability to ground 3,000 containers which creates more chassis availability in Los Angeles and the rest of the country. Our peel-off schedule allows trucks to drop off and pick up in an average of 10 minutes.
Our clients reported an influx of cargo shipments coming into California. Containers were steadily building up at ports because product couldn’t be delivered to closed warehouses and stores. This all lead to increased congestion at ports who were already dealing with a reduced workforce. The result is escalating detention, demurrage and chassis fees.
The problem is exacerbated when you couple it with the next wave of ocean freight being expedited as manufacturing is recovering overseas. Consumer demand will take time to recover, which will continue to create a challenging issue for storage needs.
As the largest marine drayage provider in the United States, IMC Companies can help. Not only do we have the largest fleet of trucks and chassis, but we also have the largest inland depot operation with equipment storage in cities across the United States.
As retail stores and warehouses closed due to COVID-19 cargo began to accumulate. IMC Companies quickly offered solutions to our customers across the country. We opened a brand-new storage facility in August in California to securely hold loads for our customers and help them save on chassis fees. Our team is on-site closely monitoring these loads to ensure security. The facility is strategically located just six miles from the nation’s largest container ports in Long Beach and Los Angeles. It also has two new loaded container handling machines to ground loads and stack them up to six units high.
Once space is available at the final destination, we have more than 125 professional employee drivers in Los Angeles equipped with new environmentally clean MACK trucks to deliver freight. Our customers can count on our state-of-the-art technology to provide real-time tracking data as well as peel-off technology to expedite equipment turn-times.
In times like these, we are grateful our customers trust us. When clients need help during this difficult time, they can rely on our 38 years of experience to provide expert advice . If you need help with container storage or drayage anywhere in the country please reach out to our team. After all, “your success is always our final destination.”
