Qualifications:

  • Recent college degree with an interest in Logistics & Intermodal Transportation or customer service experience
  • Container knowledge preferred
  • Experience related to the ports and steamship lines preferred
  • Strong communication/computer skills needed
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Demonstrates problem-solving capabilities

Essential Functions:

  • Receives/schedules all delivery orders and requests from customers and must exercise discretion and use independent judgement when relating customer requests, schedules and informing dispatch
  • Enters all orders into computer for dispatch
  • Verifies bookings are released at depots for export moves and traces import containers on the rail to confirm delivery is made by last free day
  • Prepare customer reports and tracking/tracing as required such as divisional pool, MDR, CNI, Daily Activity and Dispatch Status
  • Notifies management of all service failures
  • Proposes and implements solutions to improve overall customer service
  • Creates and updates location profiles in computer system
  • Daily communication with operations

Essential Functions:

  • Plan the daily/weekly work schedule of drivers to maximize freight coverage in a timely cost efficient manner within FMCSA regulations.
  • Exercise discretion and use independent judgement when relating customer requests, appointment times and assigning orders to specific drivers
  • Assist drivers with equipment issues, detention time, rail billing and any additional requests
  • Manage driver paperwork
  • Coordinate with customer service

Management trainee – Each year IMC Companies hires 2-4 management trainees for our year long training program at Intermodal Cartage in Memphis, TN. Trainees spend time working in M&R, the Depot, Customer Service, Dispatch, Equipment Control, Driver Recruiting, Driver Services, Revenue Accounting, Risk Management, and IT.
